Laser Cut Cactus Planter

Using laser cutting and fusion 360 to create DXF file, this is my take on generative design and shape optimisation to inspire the design. My goal was to use as less wood as possible but still be able to create something that was strong and sturdy, as well as being able to have the pot to be removable.

The first set was to take the measurements fo the posts and design them in Fusion 360 and then use them to inform the design.

I then used the pots in a new design file to create the laser cuttable design with.

This has been documented in the screen capture video

Sanding and Dry Fit

When design in Fusion 360, the push joints hole where designed to be 0.2mm thinner then the 3mm thickness of the Plywood used, this allowing there still to be a tight fit after sanding the scorch marks of the ply.

Now the sanding and dry fit was completed it was time to glue the planter together.

Now the assembly was completed it was time to wait for the glue to dry before adding a finish.

To finish the plywood I applied Colron Finishing Wax polish.
