Laptop Stand

unnamed-7.jpg

The laptop stand that you will be learning to create is inspired by repurposing and reusing materials. I chose to repurpose scrap pieces of wood that I had from a previous picture so if you have any extra pieces of wood, you should do the same since the environmental impacts of waste and overuse of wood is detrimental to the safety of our environment and world as a whole. So make a change by repurposing and reusing materials such as wood.

Supplies

  • Scrap pieces of wood
  • Wood glue
  • Saw
  • Exacto knife
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Random heavy objects( candles, books, etc.)
  • Sanding box or paper

Making the Laptop Sitting Piece

unnamed-10.jpg

Now, the official process begins with cutting all the pieces you need for the laptop sitting piece with a saw or Exacto knife, depending on the piece and what you have in your home. Remember to mark with a pencil and ruler the measurements of the pieces before actually cutting the pieces. Additionally, when cutting, use the ruler to guide as to ensure crisp and straight lines. Moreover, the measurements and pieces cut up are:

2 large pieces at measurements of wood at 15.1 cm by 52 cm 3 backing pieces at 28 cm by 17.3 cm Now that all your laptop sitting pieces have been cut up, make sure to sand any rough edges using the sanding box. Then use wood glue to attach the pieces. After placing the glue, make sure to hold the species strongly together for 30 seconds before placing a dab of glue on top of the connecting line and spreading it all over the line thinly. This layer will ensure the pieces will be sturdy and secure when dried. After the front pieces have completely dried you will need to glue the backing pieces by placing wood glue all over the back of those two pieces and placing the backing pieces on top and then following the same gluing procedure done earlier.

the Finishing of the Laptop Sitting Piece

To finish off the pieces, begin by marking any areas that are showing where they are not supposed to with a ruler and pencil. Then proceed to cut up these areas, in the same manner you cut up the original pieces. Furthermore, end off the finishing by using the sandbox to sand any rough lines and any glue that is showing where it is not supposed to. Additionally, if any pieces have to be redone and go through the gluing and cutting process once more, make sure to remove those pieces and reduce the specifics following the same procedure just with adjustments needed.

Creating the Side Compartments

To begin the compartments you will need to cut up all the pieces required using the same procedure you did with the laptop sitting pieces. The pieces cut up are:
4 - sides pieces at 7.5cm by 31 cm 2- bottom pieces at 7.5cm by 31 cm 2 baking pieces at 9cm by 7.5 cm 1 front piece at 9cm by 7.5 cm 3 compartment dividers at 9cm by 7.5 cm

Now that all pieces are cut up, it is time to assemble the pieces. To begin the assembling process, glue the right side piece on the bottom piece for both compartments using the same manner you did in the loop sitting pieces, but this time place the random object you gathered earlier to support the side pieces in their drying process and so make sure the piece dry upright. You will then repeat this process with the right side after the left side is done drying or you can conduct both steps at the time if you have enough random objects. However, this might be slightly difficult so make sure to just do what you can handle but don't be afraid to push yourself. After both side pieces are done drying, you will be repeating the same gluing process but with the back pieces for both compartments. Moreover, after the back pieces are done drying, glue the first divider away from the back piece at...cm. For the second compartment you will be needing to add one more compartment which will be...cm away from the second divider, make sure to use the same process as the back piece side placing the random object where is best for holding up your pieces I placed the random objects on the side of the dividers to hold up the pieces firmly and strongly. Moreover, the first compartment would also need to add a front piece which will be added in the same manner as the back piece. Likewise, the second compartment does not require the second Didier or front piece as the element is organized and designed for different elements and forms of organization.

Finishing the Compartments

For finishing, you will be conducting the same finishing process as the laptop sitting piece.

Creating and Finishing the Shelf

As for the shelf, it will be conducted in the same manner as the laptop sitting piece with the same measurements, process, and finishing. However, later it will be adjusted slightly in terms of measurement in the putting together stage.

the Putting Together Stage

To put together all the pieces begin by attaching the alto sitting piece and side compartments. To do so began by flipping the laptop sitting pose so that the backing is facing you and removing 1 cm of the backing on the side vertically only removing the backing, then sanding the rough edges. I then left the laptop sitting priest backing facing me and placed glue on the right edge of the first competent and left for the second to stick it onto the areas where the backing was just removed. And then placed some random heavy objects such as a heavy candle to ensure the pieces are glued Frimley. Moreover, after the pieces have dried I placed 3 books on top of the laptop sitting pose as a holder for the shelf to glue the shelf. I simply flipped the piece so that the backing was facing me and proceeded to put glue on both of the vertical sides. Then just sliding it in to glue the shelf. Moreover, after all the pieces were dried I did a final sanding round to ensure the piece looked aesthetically pleasing.
