Lamp Using Kachnar (Bauhinia Variegata) Seed Pods कचनार लैंप

From several days during the morning walk I was noticing the spiral pods of Kachnar (Bauhinia variegata) seeds lying on the ground in jungle of Kaliyasot Dam, and thinking of making some use of them. As long as there is seed in the pod, it remains upright, but as soon as it bursts and scatters the seed, the spiral takes shape. A few days back I collected a lot of them and cleaned them with a brush. A wooden fruit basket made by icecream stick was lying at home. If you do not have a basket, you can easily make ice cream with sticks. Taking pods of about the same size, drill a small hole on their stalk end. By threading the copper wire through the hole, the pod was loosely tied to the bead of the basket in such a way that it hangs down. Using drill make a hole in the middle of the fruit basket so that the electrical wire could pass through it. To hide the wire and to match the theme of the project, wrap jute thread on it by applying some art glue. Attach a power plug on one end of the wire and solder a 250 Volt 9 Watt Warm White LED DoB (Driver on Board) chip at the other end. DoB is available for around Rs.10 (i.e. ~USD 0.80). Finally, coat the entire lamp with acrylic clear spray so that the shine remains a long time. That's it, the wonderful wooden lamp is ready, hang it on the work table, porch, room corner or on tree and enjoy the light and shadow.
