Description
LZ-19 is a modular droid that can be fitted for each unique environment the Empire faces in their conquest. The droid can have components interchanged to better suit the environment, dangers or tasks. This makes a versatile droid that can fit any challenge the Empire faces without having to develop individual droids for each environment. This animation shows the change from a basic message delivery droid on a easy terrain to a surveillance droid on a hostile planet with rough terrain. The wheels are exchanged for larger higher tread wheels for an environment like sand rather than the small wheels droid typically have. I have also included a satellite and a blaster that are added for surveillance in a rebel environment. This was exchanged from the simple message delivery droid that entered the docking station.
I decided to focus on the animation as I thought something unique about Star Wars, that is not reflected in its droid design, is the unique biomes that cover each planet. The animation was the best strategy to showcase the uniqueness of the droid. A droid design can't reflect every biome well, so I have thought an interesting next approach would be a modular design of a droid. I focused on an Imperial droid as the Empire would need to manage many different environments and would keep the designs simple and straight forward. The design incorporates a docking station that would exchange parts between planetary travel.
