LED Bedside Lamp

A short time ago a friend asked me about the 50 watt solar panel they sell at H.F. That's not much power and running it through an inverter would just be silly. So I started trying to come up with something useful enough to justify the purchase.

I found an LED that puts out 420 lumins and only uses 5 watts. (this LED is only 20 bucks)

This is just enough light for a nice bedside lamp ,  and at only 5watts you could run ten of them off a 50 watt solar panel.

That's about as much light as a 40 watt light bulb .  If you had ten 40 watt bulbs in your house and you replaced them with these you'd save 350 watts (that's a lot of watts).

If you'd like to build a few just follow this instructable.  And remember ,  stay safe ,  have fun ,  and every dollar you save doing something green is a dollar that can be put back into the economy some where else to help make it strong again.

Go Green for the Green !!!

I set up two 6 volt batteries to get 12 volts to test my lamp.

When this item is finished I will ether use a doorbell transformer or a cellphone charger so I can plug her right into the wall.
