LED Light Up Sign

I made a LED light for my teacher. I made this because he wanted something to welcome his students into his classroom and make sure they felt comfortable and content while they walked in and worked. We thought that creating a stop sign shape LED light that says "Welcome to the Ingenuity Space" would make them stop and look at the sign and think how cool it was for his past students to make that and that they could eventually be able to do that.

Supplies

  1. Laser cutter
  2. Wood
  3. Arduino Circuit
  4. Individual LED lights
  5. Wires
  6. Resistors
  7. Tinkercad

Creating Your Design in Tinkercad

  1. I started by creating my design in Tinkercad
  2. Getting the octagon shape
  3. Make 4 holes on each side of the octagon that is 4.7cm for the LED lights to fit snug
  4. Putting the text that I wanted my sign to say
  5. Centering the text in the octagon

Lasercutting

  1. I then exported my design to Tinkercad by downloading it
  2. I attached it to Glowforge
  3. Then laser cut my shape out with the engraving on the text I have on my design
  4. I put my LED lights into each hole I had, in total 32

Twisting the Wires

  1. On the back of the LED light, I individually attached each small leg with the long and did that to every light until they were all connected
  2. I started twisting every 2 lights to a resistor and then each leg to a wire and did that for every 2 on each side

Final Step

  1. Then I went into Tinkercad and made my code
  2. I then plugged it into my computer and the light turned off and on!
