This project aims to create a unique miniature (15cm / 6-inch) moon lamp using 3D printing filament, featuring a moon pattern created with a lithophane technique. The lamp uses a minimalist disc-shaped base for simplicity and stability, paired with a 3W or 5W LED bulb (4000K or 3000K color temperature) for an elegant appearance.

No supports required!

Supplies

  1. Best Quality: Download the original STL file, slice it yourself (approx. 30 minutes), and use the regular base for a fine print.
  2. Quicker Option: Use the provided 3MF file (lower resolution) and the loose base for a quick setup.
  3. No supports required
  4. 90g filament, approx. 10 hours print time
  5. For best results, use Marble PLA.
  6. Regular PLA might not yield optimal results, but can be attempted if other options aren't available.
  7. The top 10% of layers should be printed at 0.08mm (adaptive layer height).
  8. For best quality, use the original STL file and slice it yourself (takes approx. 30 minutes, but results in better quality).
  9. The uploaded print profile has simplified geometry due to MakerWorld's slicing time limits.

  5. Overture Rock PLA Filament (Alternative: PolyTerra PLA Marble White)

Instructions

  1. Moon Slicing Settings
  2. For best quality, use the original STL file and slice it yourself (takes approx. 30 minutes, but results in better quality).
  3. No supports
  4. 0.2mm layer height
  5. Variable layer height: Top 2cm and bottom 2cm should be printed at 0.08mm layer height to avoid holes.
  6. Should be in the 3MF by default, but double-check.
  7. 7 walls
  8. 3 bottom and top layers
  9. Wall generator: Arachne
  10. Wall Transition Settings:
  11. Wall transitioning threshold angle: 45°
  12. Minimum feature size: 1%
  13. Cooling: 100% cooling
  14. Disc Base Slicing Settings
  15. 0.2mm layer height
  16. 4 walls
  17. 4 bottom and top layers
  18. 20% infill (gyroid)
  19. No supports
  20. 100% cooling

Additional Information

The LED light should be 59mm x 8mm, 3W or 5W, with a color temperature of 4000K or 3000K.

Available at the Bambu Lab store, model LED Light Kit 001. This LED light is 5V USB powered and has a built-in switch.
