LED Generator
First you start out with a piece of wood or another sterdy object. This is crucial because it will balance the other pieces to be glued on it. It will keep it from folding when putting on a rubber band.
Supplies
A wood block
Building
Next step is to build a structure with lego's. Creating three base layers of legos, then building up to two pillars to create a hold for a spinal and skewers. Make sure to add supporting legos beneath your pillars so they do not detach themselves. Then you get your motor and build up with three legos to form a pillar.
Gluing
Next step is to glue your lego structures onto the wood block. These structures should be placed across from each other, leaving about 2 inch distance from each other. This will guarantee there is enough distance for a rubber band to stretched across them.
Power Source
This part is important. Getting a skewer and circular object about the same size of the wheel on the motor (using a roll of tape) will begin this. Slip the roll of tape onto the skewer, then place the skewer onto the ridges of the lego's, so it lays in a steady manner. DO NOT GLUE DOWN THE SKEWER YET. Take two skinny rubber bands, and fit them over the roll of tape. Then stretch them so they also go over the wheel on the motor, the rubber bands creating the shape of a pill. Then glue down the skewer on each side of the lego's, so it stays in place.
Finished Product
The finished product should look something like this. To power your motor, you turn the roll of tape clockwise and the wheel on the motor with turn and the LED will light up.
Overall...
My project unfortunately did not light up the LED. The power given to the wheel was too little, I think to make it better would to add more strength to the rubber bands. My project ended being different from my sketch due to me using more steady objects to portray my sketch. I originally drew a cranked motor but switched it to a wheel powering each other. I would improve my design by adding more power to the wheel and using more steady materials instead of lego's for the pillars.
