Kohlrabi Cordon Bleu
Meatless Cordon bleu - very delicious!
Light dinner main course - easy to prepare!
Even meatlovers will be delightet :)
Ingredients for Two
1 big kohlrabi ( turnip cabbage)
4 slices of Cheese - Gouda, cheddar or whatever you prefer
2 slices of ham (optional)
salt, pepper
1 egg
flour
breadcrumbs
Oil for frying
Optional sauce to the cordon bleu:
3 tablespoons sour cream
Dill - dried or fresh
Salt, pepper
(a little garlic doesn't hurt)
Peeling, Shaping, Cooking - Sauce
peel the kohlrabi
cut it in 0,5cm (0,2 inches) thick slices
if you want you can shape it in desired form - hearts are always appreciated :o)
cook the slices in vegetable broth for about 5 minutes
meanwhile: prepare the sauce,
by mixing
the sourcream, dill, salt and pepper - done!
( a little garlic doesn't hurt !)
Layering
Get the slices out of the broth and make sure they're dry before breading
now layer the cordon bleu like this:
kohlrabi
cheese
ham
cheese
kohlrabi
Breading and Frying
stirr the egg and add some salt and pepper
prepare flour, egg and breadcrumbs on a plate each
coat the cordon bleu in order:
1. flour
2. egg
3. breadcrumbs
heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the delicious breaded kohlrabi cordon bleu!
2-3 minutes on each side, the cheese should melt and the breading should be golden brown!

with the sauce an a small sallad - ruccola, tomato and cucumber suits perfect!
