The first method i will show you is called the Knit cast on.

Step one: tie a slip knot on one of the needles

Step two: insert the right needle into the knot

Step three: get the wool and put it round the needle which you inserted into the knot

Step four: with the right needle slide it down and over the wool which was wrapped round the needle

Step five: put the stitch that is on the right hand needle onto the left needle

Step six: copy step 2-5 until you have the right amount of stitches

The Second Method

The second method i will show you is called the cable cast on, I find this cast on is more neat, tidy and has less holes than the knit cast on.

Step one: tie a slip knot on one of the needles

Step two: insert the right needle into the slip knot

Step three: get the wool and put it round the needle that you inserted into the slip knot

Step four: slide the right needle down and over the wool

Step five: put the stitch that is on the right needle onto the left needle

Step six: put the right needle in between the two stitches

Step seven: put the wool round the needle in between the two stitches

Step eight: slide the needle back and over the wool

Step nine: put the stitch that is on the right needle onto the left needle

Step ten: repeat step 6-9 until you have the right amount of stitches
