Knitted Winter Gloves
I decided to make some wooly gloves to keep my hands warm this winter. These gloves turned out really thick, and was quick too, making it a great gift idea as well.
For this pattern, I used 5mm double pointed needles and just over one ball of Cleckheaton's Country Marles 8ply in gray for two gloves.

Working the Hand and Thumb
Ribbed Wrist
Cast on 33 sts then arrange on your double pointed needles. PM at beginning of round and join. Work K2, P1 until ribbing measures around 3 inches.
Palm and Thumb
At beginning of new round change to Stockinette Stitch (knit every stitch).
Knit one round, increasing one stitch at the end of the round. 34 sts
Knit one round
Thumb
K16, PM, MIL, K1, MIR, PM, (Instead of markers I placed my gusset sts on a separate dpn) knit for the rest of the round. 36 sts.
Knit one round.
Increase Round: Knit to marker, slip marker, MIL, knit to next marker, MIR, slip marker, knit to the end.
Knit two rounds.
Increase every third round until you have 13 gusset sts between your markers, then place sts on a holder or waste yarn.
Continue in ss until glove measures 3 1/2" from ribbing or until glove comes up to the base of your little finger.

Little finger
Work across first 4 sts, then place 25 st on waste yarn or holder. Then use a backward loop to cast on 1 st to close the gap and knit last 5 sts. 10 sts.
Knit along sts until finger measures 2" (or to the tip of the finger).
K2tog five times, break yarn, draw tail through remaining sts, pull tight and weave in.
Join yarn at base of little finger, pick up and knit 2 sts along cast on edge of little finger, then knit remaining sts. 27 sts.
Knit two rounds.
Ring Finger
Place 9 sts of the first and last sts on dpn, and put remaining sts on a holder/waste yarn.
Before starting the next round, pick up and knit 2 sts along the base of the little finger, then knit across the first dpn. Use a backward loop to cast on 1 st to close the gap between dpns and knit to the end. 12 sts.
Work sts until finger is in line with the tip of your finger.
K2tog across sts, then break yarn and thread through sts and pull tightly to secure and weave in ends.
Middle Finger
Place 9 sts of the first and last sts on dpn, and put remaining sts on a holder/waste yarn.
Join yarn before the last dpn, and work sts. Pick up and knit 2 sts along the base of the ring finger, then knit across the first dpn. Use a backward loop to cast on 1 st to close the gap between dpns and knit to the end. 12 sts.
Work sts until finger is in line with the tip of your finger.
K2tog across sts, then break yarn and thread through sts and pull tightly to secure and weave in ends.
Index Finger
Place remaing sts on dpn.
Join yarn before the last dpn, and work sts. Pick up and knit 2 sts along the base of the middle finger, then knit to the end of the round. 11 sts.
Work sts until finger is in line with the tip of your finger.
K2tog across sts, and K3tog at end of row. Then break yarn and thread through sts and pull tightly to secure and weave in ends.

Thumb and Finishing
Thumb
Place gusset sts on dpns and join yarn.
Knit round, then using a backward loop, cast on 1 sts to close the gap between sts. 14 sts.
Arrange sts evenly across dpns and work thumb until in line with the tip of your thumb.
K2tog all the way round, break yarn, weave through sts and pull tight.
To finish
Weave in any loose ends and close any large gaps between fingers. Then knit a second glove to finish the pair!
Place gusset sts on dpns and join yarn.
Knit round, then using a backward loop, cast on 1 sts to close the gap between sts. 14 sts.
Arrange sts evenly across dpns and work thumb until in line with the tip of your thumb.
K2tog all the way round, break yarn, weave through sts and pull tight.
To finish
Weave in any loose ends and close any large gaps between fingers. Then knit a second glove to finish the pair!
