Knitted Cuddly Minions

I first created this pattern for my friend's birthday present . It didn't take me much time and isn't very difficult so would be suitable for less advanced knitters. I hope you like it!

This pattern is for 'Bob' the minion wearing dungarees.

The pattern is almost all knitted, though there are some crocheted elements. However, there are other options instead of crocheting, so don't worry if you can't crochet!

Materials:

100g yellow wool ( using DK wool will make it the same size as mine, but you can use chunkier or thinner wool if you want to)

50g bright blue wool ( you can also use a denim coloured wool or a navy blue colour)

25g white wool OR A4 sheet of white felt

25g black wool OR A5 sheet of black felt

Tools:

4mm knitting needles

1 large eyed tapestry needle

Scissors

Optional: 4.5mm crochet hook

Make 2

*Cast on 10 sts

Rows 1 - 40: knit*

Put these stitches on a spare needle or a st holder.

Repeat from * to *.

Row 41: Knit across the stitches on your needle, cast on two stitches and then knit across the sts on your spare needle or st holder. (22 sts)

Rows 42: inc. 2 sts at the beginning and end of each row. (26 sts)

Rows 43 - 103: knit.

Rows 104 - 108: k2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog. (18 sts)

Place these sts on a st holder or a spare needle.

Make 4

Cast on 20 sts

Rows 1 - 25: knit

Cast off

As I said earlier, there is another option other than crocheting if you don't want to crochet the eyes for the minion. If so, skip this step and move on with the next step.

Make 2

Use white wool

Ch 18, join to make a magic ring

Round 1: trb

Fasten off.

Make 2

Use black wool

Ch 6, join to make a magic ring

Round 1: trb

Fasten off.

Make 2

Use denim or bright blue wool.

*Cast on 12 sts

Rows 1 - 4: (k1, p1) repeat to end

Rows 5 - 24: stocking st.*

Put sts on a spare needle or st holder. Repeat from * to *.

Row 25: k across sts on needle, cast on 4 sts, k across sts on spare needle or st holder. (28 sts)

Row 26: purl

Row 27: inc 2 at beginning and end of row. (32 sts)

Row 28: purl

Rows 29 - 34: stocking st.

Rows 35 - 36: garter st.

Cast off.

To make dungaree front:

Hold one of the dungaree trouser pieces with the wrong side facing towards you. Count 4 cast off sts from the right hand side of the piece, and then pick up 24 sts. You should be left with 4 cast off sts on both sides of the sts you have picked up.

Rows 1 - 10: Stocking st.

Sew the dungarees together by matching up the trouser pieces and oversewing up the sides, then the insides of the trousers

To make the dungaree straps:

You can either knit or crochet the straps.

Make 2

Use denim or bright blue wool

To knit them:

Cast on 3 sts

Knit until the straps reach from the front piece to the back piece.

Cast off.

To crochet them:

Chain until the chain reaches from the front piece to the back piece.

Treble crochet along the chain.

Fasten off.

Sew these straps onto the dungarees.

Place the sts on the st holders onto a needle.

Knit one row, then break yarn leaving a very long end, thread onto a wool needle and draw through all the sts.

Over-sew all the way around the minion, leaving a gap. Next, turn right side out, stuff and close the gap. Then sew together the arms, turning right side out, stuffing, and sewing onto the minion.

Cut circles out of white and black felt for the eye if you haven't already crocheted them, Then stitch the black and white circles together to make eyes. Sew them onto the minion.

Embroider a mouth onto the minion using black wool.

Pop the dungarees onto the minion.
