Knit Your Own Pickett the Bowtruckle!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was terrific! So terrific, I knew I needed beasts of my own.
You want them too.... right?
Here is a knitting pattern for Pickett, the adorable Bowtruckle who spends a lot of time in Newt Scamander's pocket.
You will need:
4mm straight double pointed needles
Pipe cleaners
Fibre fill stuffing
Darning needle
2 seed beads for eyes
DK yarn in Green and Brown (small amounts only are needed)
Create the Inner Frame
This knitting creature is somewhat different from others.... in that, well.... it is knit inside out. You start with the frame, then stuff it, then finally create the pieces to sew on the outside.
Create frame as shown in the images using pipe cleaners. He has 3 legs, a long body and arms, and a head. Shape stuffing around the frame and tie on with yarn.
Take 3 pipe cleaners, and bend them twice as shown. Arrange these to be facing outwards from each other.
Attach another pipe cleaner around as the spine. Then attach another as his arms. Wind further pipe cleaners around the basic frame to strengthen it.
Now this bit is a wee bit tricky. Take the fiberfill and wrap it around the frame (leaving the ends of the limbs stuffing free). Use some of the green yarn to tie the fill on. This doesn't need to look good, simply fastening it to the frame.
