Knit Beanie With Decal
Hey, I love Pokémon. We are a family that loves Pokémon, but it is hard to find beanies with Pokémon other than Pikachu, Charmander, and a few others. Even when you do find them they can be expensive. I want to share with the world what I love by broadcasting it on my hat. You can also use your beanies as a billboard for what you love. Even if you don't want to make your own beanie great, just find a patch or make one (steps 4-5) and attach it to your beanie. Start from scratch or upscale what you have, both are great options. I'm excited to see what you come up with.
Supplies
Supplies
- Yarn
- Crochet Thread
- Faux Leather
Tools
- Jamit Knitting Machine
- Yarn Needle
- Tape Measure
- Laser Engraver or Vinyl Decal
Place Yarn on Jamit
Add yarn to Jamit. Skip every other hook. Spin lever unit you have about 21 inches of knitted material. The counter on my Jamit does not work to keep track of rounds. I hear that is a common issue.
I used medium 4 yarn 187 yds/3.5 oz. I had some left over.
Remove Knitted Material From Jamit
Use the yarn needle to remove knitted material from Jamit, by threading yarn under over hooks. Spin handle towards the end to reach all hooks. Spin handled until material releases from Jamit.
Pull the tails on each side to sinch each closed. Tuck either into the center. Use the tails to sew both ends to each other. Tie knot, using yarn needle to put left over material in between layers. Cut excess. You now have a knit beanie !
Making Faux Leather Decal
Cut a piece of faux leather 3 inches by 2 inches. Add image to faux leather.
I used an xtool laser engraver to cut and engrave images on faux leather. Cut Settings Speed 90 Power 100% Pass 3, Engrave Settings: Image Speed 100 Power 90 Pass 1.
You can also use scissors to cut faux leather. You can attach iron on the decal or use a vinyl cutter to make the image to add.
Attach Faux Leather to the Beanie
Sew faux leather image to beanie. I used a yarn needle and size 3 crochet thread.
