Knight Pencil Holder

Hello, this is my instructable and I’ll show you how to make a knight chess piece pencil holder. I am a student at Scripps Ranch High SchooI and I chose this design project because ever since I was little I have been playing chess, and of all the pieces the knight is by far my favorite;). I chose the basic animated design of a knight seen in many chess games.

Supplies

Filaments

  • White filament

Other Materials

  • 3D printer
  • Paint ( any color you want) (optional)

Designing the Parts

I designed the part using Fusion 360. I used a little more intricate idea of what a knight looks like, but you can make yours look as sophisticated or easy as you want. I started by making the body using the sketch feature. Then I extruded it. Finally, I used the fillet feature to make the edges curvier. You can add any other features you want. Get creative! Also, don't forget to make a hole for the pencil to fit.

Printing the Parts

Print your design using a 3D printer. It should take a couple of hours, but it will vary depending on the printer used. It may take a few attempts to print the part right, so keep trying! I Printed my design with supports, and then had to take all the supports off, but the final product turned out great.

Paint the Parts (optional)

For this last step, the colors are up to you, if you want to leave the pencil holder in the color it was printed as, you can. I decided to paint it to make it look cooler but its up to you!
