Hello, my name is Luke Valles and for the Autodesk Design and Make Contest I created a kitchen knife-shaped magnetic knife holder. I designed it on Autodesk Inventor and printed it on the printers provided by my school. There are circular holes in the back of both the blade and the handle for magnets to be inserted into. It is meant to be hung on the wall via two holes in the back for the heads of screws that are predrilled into the wall to go. You then simply place your kitchen knives up to the face of the knife holder and they stick. I chose to make this because my family owns quite the collection of kitchen knives, and we are always looking for new storage solutions.

Supplies

The tools and supplies I used to put the knife holder together were a ⅜ inch drill bit and a drill, along with two 1 1/2 inch metal studs and some super glue.

First, find some sort of stud that can be used to connect the handle to the blade. Any small metal rod or wooden dowel will do.

Then drill holes in both the blade and the handle that are the same diameter of the studs.

Fix the studs in place with supper glue.

Finally, apply superglue around the face of the handle that will make contact with the blade.

All that is left to do is put the magnets in and hang it up!
