K'nex Scar-l
This is my (in my opinion) upgraded version of the Scar-l originally made by Dr. richtofen (check out their ibles, very good builder). My few modifications are a more realistic sight, a different lever on the side of the gun and electrical tape around certain parts to make it look a bit cooler. But remember before building, this gun DOES NOT shoot.
Step 1: Build the Scar-l From Dr. Richtofen's Ible
This is , afterall, a modified version of that gun.
Step 2: Make a Straight Mag
The mag on the original gun is curved but to add to the overall look of the gun, make the mag straight. All you need to do is connect the small green rods and the yellow 5-slot connectors.
Step 3: Move the Lever
Next, take the lever and move it towards the stock of the gun. On my model the lever only moves about an inch and is always above the mag. Sidenote, if the lever starts getting stuck on the mag when you release it, a small strip of electric tape on top of the mag will prevent this.
Step 4: New Ironsights
To add to the realisticness of the rifle, I created a sight that looks just like the real version of the gun. I did this by replacing the rear sight with a single socket piece from a ball and socket joint. Then I replaced the gray one slot connector on the front sight with a white 8 slot connector (i broke off 8 of the outside parts as youll see in the picture).
Step 5: (optional) Electrical Tape
Just to add a little something more, I wrapped certain parts of the gun with a layer of electrical tape. This is where I wrapped my gun but of course you can wrap whatever you like.
