K'nex Office: Desk Lamp

     It's a busy day at work. You have tons of paperwork to do in a short amount of time. Everyone in the office is running around, trying to get as much work done as possible. Keyboards are clicking, phones are ringing, and people are busily discussing business matters.
     But suddenly, all of the power goes out! It is only now that you notice the fierce thunderstorm raging outside.
     How are you supposed to work now, when you can't see what you're doing!? Luckily, you can easily make a makeshift desk lamp, using your cell phone and the secret stash of K'nex your boss plays with in his office. What are you waiting for! You have work to do! Get building!

You will need:

35 white connectors
16 blue connectors
59 yellow connectors
8 green connectors
20 grey connectors
16 red connectors
11 orange connectors
6 purple loop connectors
8 diagonal "Y" connectors
4 blue caps
2 tan rotation locks
2 grey rods
8 red rods
15 yellow rods
18 grey separators
8 blue separators
64 white rods
177 green  rods

Take a blue connector, and a grey connector, and slide them together. Repeat to get 16 pieces. Next, arrange the pieces into rows of four, and connect them using green rods. Then, take two rows and connect them using green rods. Finally, fill in spaces using white rods.

Take 16 white connectors, and arrange them into rows of four. Next, connect each row using green rods. Then, separate the rows into two pairs, and connect them using green rods. Finally, fill in spaces using white rods.

Take the three double-row sections from the previous steps, and arrange them as shown. Next, connect them with green rods and fill in spaces with white rods. Then, Add the two leftover rows from step two to each end of the base, and connect them using green rods. Finally, fill in all spaces using white rods.

Take eight yellow connectors, and connect them using green rods. Repeat to get two pieces. Next, connect them to the rest of the base using green rods. Finally, fill in all spaces with white rods.

Take four yellow connectors, and connect them using green rods. Repeat to get two pieces. Next, add them to the rest of the base using green rods. Finally, fill in all spaces using white rods.

Add four red connectors to the corners of the base using green rods. Next, fill in all spaces using white rods.

Add two grey rods to the base where shown.

Take eight diagonal "Y"connectors, and attach them to the base as shown.

Note: These pieces can be replaced by a grey/blue 3D connector (an example is in step two).

Take four yellow connectors, and connect them using green rods. Next, add a green connector and a white rod. Repeat to get two pieces. Then, connect the two pieces using a yellow rod and a white rod. Next, add a green rod to each side of the top. Repeat to get four pieces.

Take a yellow rod and attach it to an orange connector. Repeat to get eight pieces total. Next, attach two pieces to the yellow rod on the piece you made in the previous step. Repeat for all four pieces. Next, connect the pieces from steps 10-11 to the main base piece. Connect the yellow rods to the central grey connectors, and the ends to the diagonal "Y" connectors, and the end grey connectors.

Take two white connectors, and connect them using a green rod. Repeat to get four pieces total. Next, stack all the pieces. Then, add three yellow rods as shown.

Take four white connectors, and attach them to a red rod. Next, space them out as shown. Then, attach the pieces from this and the previous step together as shown.

Take four more white connectors, and attach them to a red rod. Next, space them as shown. Then, add a white rod to the middle two white connectors and slide the two connectors to each end of the white rod. Finally, connect this piece to the main neckpiece as shown.

Take two red connectors and one white connector, and connect them using green rods. Next, add two white rods and grey connectors to the piece.

Take two purple loop connectors and one orange connector, and connect them using green rods. Next, add this piece to the previous piece.

Take two red connectors and a yellow connectors, and connect them using green rods. Next, attach this piece to the top of the main piece. Repeat steps 15-17 to get three pieces total.

Take a red rod, and add six grey separators and four blue separators as shown. Repeat again for a second rod. Then, add two tan rotation locks to one of the rods. Next, separate the separators on the rod into two halves. After that, add the rods to the main pieces as shown. Then, add four red rods to the main piece as shown.

Take two grey connectors, and slide them together as shown. Next, connect a green rod to a blue cap. Repeat two times, then add them to the grey connectors. Then, repeat to get two pieces total. Next, add the pieces to the main piece as shown.

Connect the device holder to the neckpiece as shown.

Add the top pieces to the base as shown.

To insert the device, flip up one of the grey connectors on the side of the device holder. Next, slide in the device, and flip the grey connectors back down.

Congratulations!!! Your K'nex desk lamp is complete! Now you can finish your work! Enjoy!
