K'nex Cover Band

This is very different from what I normally make. But a friend of mine gave me all these figures as a thank-you for lending him the pieces to build the Gee Bee. So I figured I'd show my appreciation by building this and sharing it.

He didn't give me as many heads as bodies or legs, so I had to improvise.

I made this while listening to a "Black Sabbath" on a record. It was very inspirational, but I could have sworn the record was broken with how many quick repeats there were.

Supplies

Most of the pieces go to the stage. I counted the figures as one piece each, but then included them in a separate piece count.

In case you didn't know how to put them together. I did this the last time I used one, but since then I looked up how they're built, and found they have a Y-clip on the feet.

Simply follow the templates shown. Note that the back row of the top stage should have two blue slider connectors per joint. The rest are gray or purple. Then build the bottom stage, and connect the two with green rods. Then add the back of the stage.

You can take a piece of paper and write the name of the band on the back. You can name them whatever you want, but my brother and I call them "The Pieces."

First build the seat. Then add the piece you use to anchor it to the stage. Then build the bass drum, cymbal, and snare. It's hard to see where to put them in the last picture, but it won't be hard to figure out.

Guitars

Build the bass guitar (blue) and add it to one of the figurines. Then make the lead guitar (white) and add that. Put the figurines on the stage.

Keyboard

This instrument is loose and fragile. So be careful moving it. All that will break are the white keys. I tired squeezing them together with the Y-clips. That helped a little. Add the keyboard to the stage with the character positioned as shown.

Singer

This part is simple. Add a ball joint (or other piece) to the end of a rod and put it in their hand. Add them to the stage.

This is just a suggested pose. If you need other ideas, look up any rock star that ever existed. You'll get some ideas.

Enjoy

This was a fun little model to make. You can reposition the characters to whatever you want. I went for a more excitable band, like Def Leppard or Queen.

They're good to put on top of or near a speaker. It's a fun decoration.
