K'nex Airfoil
Welcome to my instructable on building a k'nex airfoil!
I designed this airfoil in the likeness of a balsa model airfoil. The airfoil is constructed of many "ribs" linked together which can then be covered with paper/cardboard or the like.
The structure is quite flimsy, however I plan to reinforce the structure with two 1/4 inch steel rods which will slide into the holes on the connectors in the front and rear of the wings.
I have built two versions of this wing. One large, and one small. I envision two different sized planes using these wings: 1. A very large plane using the large wing as the main wing and the small wing as the stabilizer. 2. A smaller plane using the small wings as the main wings with a flat stile stabilizer.
I built this a while ago, curious if I could build a working k'nex airplane with the same structures used in balsa airplane models. If I weren't currently working on another large project I would have attempted to complete the entire plane. However I still intend to build a complete working airplane out of k'nex someday.
Large Airfoil
This is the large wing design. Link as many of these together as needed to achieve the desired length.
Small Airfoil
This is the small airfoil design. Link as many of these together as needed to achieve the desired length.
