DIY Kitchen Utensils Hook Rack

DIY Kitchen Hook Rack | Dream Workshop

We made a kitchen hook rack to organize our kitchen.

It’s common to get a messy drawer full of kitchen utensils, and a great way to improve that is to hang your utensils on a wall mounted rack.

This is our first project using the metal bender we made. You can see how to make this bender here.

This is a fast project to make, and I think it is particularly useful.

I hope you like it!

Supplies

Materials:

  • Stainless steel flat bar 5/8’’ x 1/16’’
  • Stainless steel rod 3,25mm diameter.

Tools:

I use some machines that are similar the ones on the links.
Feel free to ask any detail about the exactly equipment that I use.

Let’s Cut

First you need to cut the total length for the rack. This measure depends on how many utensils you want to hang on the bar and the space you have available to install it.

The final length we choose were 50cm almost 20 inches. We used a stainless-steel flat bar with 5/8’’ width x 1/16’’ thick.

Don’t get stuck with the material choice, you can use carbon steel for example and different sizes. The material just needs to accept bending and have enough stiffness to support the utensils.

Bending

Now it is time to bend the ends of the bar. To make these bends we used the metal bender that we made before. You can check out how we made it the link bellow:

https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Make-a-Metal-Bender-1/

For the first bend we measured 1’’ and for the inner bend 1-1/8’’.

Fixation

With the bar bend, now you need to make the holes for the screws. The hole in the front is used to pass the screwdriver through and the second will hold the rack on the wall.

To mount on the wall just use wall plugs and screws.

Hooks

The hooks are the last part you need to make. We used stainless
steel rod with 3,25mm in diameter normally used for TIG welding, but again if you have some king of metal wire or even a 3D printer to make some hooks, go ahead.

Always use what you have at your disposal, this way you will create a lot more than using only the material you think you need.
