Kid's Chromebook Costume From Used Package Boxes

Since school is back in-person, we are giving tribute to the dark, black chromebook as a halloween costume. My child wants to become a walking chromebook for their school parade. I had fun making this diy since it is easy to make and I have lots of used boxes and colored papers from her teacher which are blank at the back. And most esp.upon finishing this project, I made her happy =) This costume won her best costume this year which made her extra delighted.

To make this fun diy costume, you need:

2 large used delivery box (the large sides will be used for the base, the rest for the sides and fillings)

black poster boards (or black cartolina to have a realistic/ smooth texture of the costume)

glue gun and hot gluesticks

art papers for the screen background (I used the back part from my kids teachers' colorful flyers )

pool noodle (to fit the shoulder inside the screen section of the costume)

box cutter

packaging tape

ruler

pencils ( to mark the measurements, I used white colored pencil for the black paper)

1. Using a box cutter, cut a 20 inches by 15 inches cardboard from the used delivery box. (We need 4 pieces of 20in by 15in) I used 2 large boxes because I need the large areas.
2. Use a packaging tape to mark the round corners of the 4 pcs. cardboards and cut the marked corners.
3. Get 1 of the 4 pcs 20in by 15in cardboard then draw a rectangle inside. Measure 2 inches from the sides. Then use box cutter to cut the rectangular hole.
4. Get the flaps from the used box, we'll cut 8inches in width until we cover the surrounding area of the screen section of the costume. Leave an 11 inch uncovered at the bottom. I measured my kids shoulder for her to fit in, to show her face on the screen part.
5. Roll them and glue it around the side of the 20in by 15in.
6. Get the 2nd piece of 20in by 15in cardboard and glue it on top. Now you have the screen section where you can wear the costume.

1. Get the black cartolina or black art paper that you have and cover the outside portion.
2. Using art papers cover the inside for the screen background.
3. To make the tiny camera on top, simply cut a small circle then put tiny plastic in it then voila you have tiny cam for your chromebook.
4. For the solid back part which is the top of the chromebook , I used white colored pencil to copy the district label and company label of the chromebook

1. Get the 3rd piece of the 20in by 15in cardboard.
2. Draw a big rectangle for the keyboard and a small rectangle below it.
3. Cut the rectangle using the box cutter and set it aside.
4. Get another cardboard for the side area dimension of the keyboard.
5. Roll them then
6. Cut them into 2inches wide strips and glue it around the the last 20in by 15in cardboard.
7. Put scraps of cardboard inside the rectangles and
8. Glue back the cut rectangle on top of the scraps. Cover the entire area with black cartolina or black art paper.
9. Use white colored pencil to copy the keys in the chromebook.

1. Cut a 6in by 11in board. Divide it horizontally into 3 sections measuring 2inches each.
2. Cover the middle with black art paper.
3. Using hot glue and strong packaging tape, connect glue the two outer section of this cardboard to the screen and the other end to keyboard panel. Make sure it is strong enough to prevent it from breaking apart while my daughter is wearing the costume.
4. I put a layer of additional packaging tape and it truly withstand the whole duration of the parade wherein some of my daughters schoolmates type on her costume. I inserted the 4 cut pool noodles (with 2 inches in length) on the 4 corners where my daughter wears it on her shoulders.
5. There you go, a chromebook costume!
