Hello viewer's welcome to chandrakala's rasoi today we are going to share khara bath recipe, an authentic,popular meal in karnataka and is usually served with kesari bhat ( sweet version) as a complete meal.
Khara bath is a traditionally southindian cuisine and it's commonly made in households all acroos the country. Khara bath has many different names like rawan bath, masala bath, semolina bath, tomato bhath, rawa vangi bath, masala veg upma and chow chowthey are all the same dish with some variations.
Khara bath is basically upma made from rawa, along with different vegetable like carrot peas, French beans, onion, Capsicum and similar spices we use for rawa upma, but what sets is apart is the use of vangi bath masala which gives it a authentic taste and yes in this upma the more ghee you add the more flavour comes out.
So let's start making this authentic dish from karnataka.

Supplies

Ingredients
1 cup rawa/ semolina
2tbsp ghee
1tsp mustard seeds
2tsp chana dal
2tsp urad dal
1 red dried chillie
5 to 6 black pepper
1 onion finely chopped
2tsp finely chopped ginger
5 to 6 kaju/ cashew
2 finely chopped green chillies
Few curry leaves
One finely chopped tomato
2 tbsp Finley chopped French beans
2tbsp finely chopped carrot
2 tbsp peas
2 tbsp Finley chopped capsicum
Salt to taste
1 tsp tumeric powder
1tbsp vangi bath masala or as per your taste
2 and 1/2 cup water
1/4 cup fresh grated coconut
1tbsp lemon juice
Few curry leaves

Roasting Rawa.

Add 1 cup of rawa/ semolina in preheated pan.
Roast the rawa/ semolina in low to medium heat. Stir often while roasting the rava. Roasting takes about 5 to 6 Once the rava becomes fragrant switch off the flame transfer rawa in a plate amd keep aside.

Let's Start With Temparing.

Heat two tbsp of ghee add mustard seeds onces it's start splutering add Chana dal, urad dal, whole red dried chilli and sauté till light brown and crispy.

Adding Other Basic Ingredients.

Then add finely chopped ginger, finely chopped onion , few cashew, green chillies and few curry leaves sauté till translucent.

Adding Vegetables.

Add the chopped tomatoes, and cook for 2 mins. Then add the chopped carrot, chopped French beans,green peas and saute well then add capsicum saute add then add salt as per taste tumeric powder add vangi bath masala saute for 2 min.

Adding Water Cooking and Serving Khara Bath.

Now add water, place lid and bring to a boil. Remove lid and continue to boil for 3 more mins. lid and cook for 3 to 4 mins on low flame. Then add rawa and quickly mix to avoid forming lumps. Stir well and close with lid and let it cook in low heat till all the water evoparates. Stir in between now remove lid mix well.
Switch off the flame add fresh grated coconut and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice Serve with coconut chutney or peanut chutney Or lemon wedges Or you can simply have this with hot tea.
