In this project, you'll learn how to make a keychain by connecting letters together to make a solid object from 3D printing.

Creating Your 3D Design

Step 1 Keychain.jpg

When you log into your TinkerCAD account, you can start creating your 3D design! Just hover and click with your cursor over the "Create new design" button, right under the "My recent designs" text.

Opening Your Shape Panel

Step2.jpg

When you get into the Workplane, you should be able to see all your different varieties of shapes. If not, there should be and button with an arrow on it to the right of your tab to bring up the shapes panel.

Getting Your Text

Step 2.6.png
Step3.jpg

After seeing your shapes panel, you should be able to find the text shape and drag it into your Workplane.

Then click on the text shape and there should be an arrow at the top right beside the shapes panel to edit your text shape.

Adding Letters

Step4.jpg

After getting your text shape into the Workplane, add your text letter by letter by copying and pasting (Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V) your text shapes. Repeat until you have your text.

Word Alinement

Step5.jpg

Then when you get all of the letters you need, use your arrow keys to overlap the letters. Use the aline function to aline all your letters so they are straight along with each other.

Grab 2 cylinders (one regular and one hole cylinder) from the shapes panel and set the dimensions of your cylinders.

Lining the Cylinders in Place

Step7.jpg

Aline the 2 cylinders (Hold shift and click on both cylinders) using the alinement function ("L" is the shortcut to using the alinement function).

Grouping the Cylinders

Step8.jpg

After alining the cylinders group (Ctrl-G) both cylinders to create a hole through the orange cylinder.

Piecing Everything Together

Using all the objects you have made, put all your objects together and make sure you have the right dimensions.

Exporting

When you are done, right above the shapes panel there should be an "Export" button. Click on it and click on ".stl" so you would be able to use your design on a 3D printer.
