Key Chain - modifiable - 3D Printed

Here one more (small) project that does not require any special skills. An object that is quickly printed and assembled. Perhaps also a project for newbies in 3D printing.

This modifiable key chain can be printed in two different versions: glueable or screwable. Whereby I would always recommend the screwable version, because it allows to make constant changes ... but for this you need 2 self-tapping screws.

Combine the screw parts individually : bolt, dice, ball, skull or print for example 3 or 4 nuts in the colors of your national flag. There are many ways to customize your key chain.

So you have to decide first, what kind of version you want.

These are the files for printing:

  • Key_Chain_boltpart.stl
  • Key_Chain_arc_screwable.stl
  • Key_Chain_arc_glueable.stl
  • Key_Chain_nut.stl
  • Key_Chain_skull.stl
  • Key_Chain_dice.stl
  • Key_Chain_ball.stl

My print settings:

  • Printer brand: Prusa
  • Printer: I3 MK3S
  • Infill: 30% Filament
  • brand: Prusa, ICE, Makeasy
  • Filament color: PLA: Galaxy Black; Romantic Red, Young Yellow; PET Makeasy: Black
  • Filament material: PLA, PET-G

After you have printed your parts ...

Remark: As all parts are designed to fit very precisely, it may happen that you have to rework one or the other part a bit with sandpaper and/or cutter due to different dimensional accuracy of the printers and the different behavior of the filaments.

Supplies

  • 2 self-tapping screws 2.9 x 9.5 mm
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Super glue
  • (Sandpaper)

Glueable Version

To make this version you need "Key_Chain_boltpart.stl" and "Key_Chain_arc_glueable.stl" ... and the parts you want to screw into it.

  • Key_Chain_nut.stl
  • Key_Chain_ball.stl
  • Key_Chain_dice.stl
  • Key_Chain_skull.stl

I glued the two parts with superglue.

Screwable Version

To make this version you need the files "Key_Chain_boltpart.stl" and "Key_Chain_arc_screwable.stl" ... and the parts you want to screw into it.

  • Key_Chain_nut.stl
  • Key_Chain_ball.stl
  • Key_Chain_dice.stl
  • Key_Chain_skull.stl

To fix "Key_Chain_arc_screwable.stl" to "Key_Chain_boltpart.stl" you need

  • 2 self-tapping screws 2.9 x 9.5 mm
  • Phillips screwdriver.

The good thing about this version is, if you do not like your composition, you can change it at any time!

Suggestions for National Colors

Key Chain_3colours_France.png
Key Chain_3colours_Italy.png
Key Chain_3colours_BRD.png

To make one of these examples you will need the files "Key_Chain_boltpart.stl" and "Key_Chain_arc_screwable.stl" or "Key_Chain_arc_glueable.stl" and 3x "Key_Chain_nut.stl" and the required filament colors.

Have fun with the selection and assembly!
