In industry, the exact position of a metal tool in a CNC or lathe or a robotic arm in an automation system is very important and essential to ensure that your program is running properly. It is also necessary to count the number of parts on a production belt to keep data records. The KY-036 Metal Touch Sensor Module is a low-cost solution to the above problem. It has an onboard LM393 comparator IC that will provide a digital output to connect to the GPIO pin of a microcontroller. It is a switch that only works when touched by a charged body. There is a high-frequency crystal Darlington tube with a high current amplification factor that can conduct electricity when receiving an electromagnetic signal. There are also resistor potentiometers to change the sensitivity of the output to touch. It also has M2 size bolt holes for easy installation.
