K'Nerf Tac-Rail Aligned Sight
K'nex can be used for almost anything! You can build camera rigs, mazes, snow shovels, and wagons if you simply use your imagination! You can even go so far as building attachments for other toys, such as Nerf blasters!
Enter the K'nex Reverse Tac-Rail system.
The K'nex Reverse Tac-Rail system allows endless customization of K'nex accessories for Nerf blasters. In this example, we will be creating an aligned sight to aid in angled use of your blaster. It is a fairly simple build, albeit one that will improve your foam dart conflict skills immensely.
Let's get building!
Pieces
To build the K'nex Tac-Rail Aligned Sight, you will need:
-4 Grey Connectors.
-8 Red Connectors.
-24 Yellow Connectors.
-4 Purple Connectors.
-8 Blue Separators.
-1 Grey Separator.
-2 Blue Rotation Locks.
-4 Yellow Rods.
-3 Purple Rods.
-25 Black Rods.
-1 Nerf Blaster (shown here is a Nerf Rapidstrike CS-18).
Please note that these are Micro K'nex. Colors may vary, it't the shape that matters.
Reverse Tac-Rail Pieces
Connect two yellow connectors and a red connector using black rods, as in pictures 1 and 2. Repeat to get eight pieces total.
Front Aligned Sight
Connect two yellow connectors using a black rod as shown in pictures 1 and 2. Repeat to get two pieces. Add a yellow rod to one pieces, as shown in picture 4, and add two purple connectors with a blue separator in between, and then connect the yellow rod, as in pictures 5, 6, and 7. Next, add two more purple connectors using black rods as in pictures 8 and 9. Add a yellow rod with a blue connector between the purple connectors as in pictures 10 and 11. Finally, add two blue rotation locks to the black rods connecting the purple connectors as in pictures 12 and 13.
Rear Aligned Sight
Connect two yellow connectors to two grey connectors using black rods as shown in pictures 1 and 2. Repeat to get two pieces. Make sure the grey connectors are facing the same directions as in the pictures!
Reverse Tac Rail and Aligned Sight Combination
Attach three purple rods to one of the reverse tac-rail pieces as in pictures 1, 2, and 3. Next, add the two rear aligned sight pieces, as in picture 4. Next, add a blue separator, underneath the rear aligned sight, as in pictures 5, 6, and 7. Next, add another reverse tac-rail piece, and another blue separator, as in pictures 8, 9, and 10. Repeat this pattern until there are a total of seven reverse tac-rail pieces on the purple rods, as in picture 19. Next, add the front aligned sight, and a grey connector, as in pictures 20 and 21. Finally, add the last reverse tac-rail piece, as in pictures 22 and 23.
Compatibility Adjustments
Evenly space all pieces on the purple rods. There should be an extra (approximately 1.5 Millimeters) space between the rear reverse tac-rail piece and the rear aligned sight, as shown in picture 2.
Add two yellow rods to the rear aligned sight, as in pictures 3, 4, 5, and 6 to keep it from rotating or falling apart while in use.
Attaching the Aligned Sight to a Nerf Blaster
To attach the K'nex Aligned Sight to a Nerf Blaster, hook the reverse tac-rail pieces around the tactical rail of the Nerf blaster, as in picture 2. Align the 1.5 Millimeter gap with the small metal nub under the tactical rail as in picture 3, then snap the sight onto the blaster. The nub will keep the sight from sliding and/or falling off.
Note: The Nerf blaster shown here is a Rapidstrike CS-18.
Done!
Congratulations! Your K'nex Aligned Nerf Sight is now complete and ready to use! Enjoy your next foam dart conflict! Use the sight to your advantage, because it will definitely give you the upper hand!
