KISS Principle Greek Gyros With Fries

021.jpg

I live in Germany at the moment and sometimes miss nice thick Fries (or Chips as they say in UK) from snack bars, so I decided to make my own and based on a recipe I had for Lemon Greek fried potatoes, then I thought what to make with them apart from adding Tzatziki (various spellings) and I hit on Gyros, here you need a Rotary Grill, which I don´t have

But I do have a cheat for this which is NOT my idea but honestly I don´t remember from where, so whoever did this great one. Thanks

Supplies

What you need:

1/4 Cup Olive oil.

4 Potatoes

4 cloves of Garlic (or powdered)

1 Tsp Oregano

1 tsp Thymine

1/2 tsp pepper

1tsp Salt

Juice of 2 Lemons

Tzatziki

1 Ham Sausage (boiled/Steamed)

Tools:

Potato Peeler

Knife

Mixing Bowl

Skillet / Frying pan

Saucepan

Oven

Prepping (no Not Survival)

The longest part is preparing your Spuds (as the English say). Peel your potatoes and and boil them for ten minutes in your saucepan and then let them cool till you can cut them into rough thick fries/chips

Lets Get Saucy

Get a big (high) mixing Bowl put in your Olive oil, crush and add your Garlic, then add the Lemon juice, other herbs and mix well

Getting Laid

When your chips have cooled you can then mix them in the sauce/marinade, don´t put in all at once but a few at a time till all are in and well mixed.

This done you can lay them on a oven paper leaving a bit of space between and after preheating the oven at 220°C or 428°F put them in the middle of the Oven for about 30 minutes, turning them with Tongs about half way through

Meanwhile back at the Stove.....

Getting Tricky

Now I said I didn't have a Rotary grill but I do have the Potato Peeler, and here is where the trick comes in.

I cut the Sausage in half peeled it and used the peeler to cut thin strips of Ham, when I have enough you can Fry them in your Skillet/Pan, since this takes the least time you can do it while the chips are doing well in the oven.

Or Enjoy! just add your Tzatziki and you are good to go

I found this well worth doing and a great great (Pseudo) Greek Recipe, The Sausage as I said can be Ham or Chicken

and I guess you would have similar where you are, its the kind which you can peel and eat without cooking normally.

Hope you enjoy it.
