KISS Principle DIY Survival Blanket
Before you say "how cool is that" I did not invent this, however I thought "how cool is this must pass it on"
now you can say something:) I like this because it is really KISS Principle and nice recycling, more at the end
Supplies
Things you need:
Pair of scissors
some Baking paper
an Iron
an Ironing board
Lots of Crisp /Chip packages
Start Eatin
You need a lot of Crisp/Chips packages, so either have a big party or get into some stomach lose clothing
and start Munching
Prep Your Bags
They should already be open at one end (you did eat them right?)
so take your tool and cut the bottoms off, turn them on their back and cut down the seam.
Wash Day
After cutting open spead the open in the wash bowl and using detergent give them a good washing to get rid
of fat and remains
Ironing Time
Cut your Baking paper into two and set the Iron to medium heat
Pressing
Set up your Ironing board and place one of the Baking Papers on the board and take your first two opened bags
and position on top of the paper being carefull not to overlap otherwise mummy might be gettin angry! Lay the crisp
bags slightly over each other and place the second paper on top, now the Iron should be warm enough (hey donĀ“t
touch it, its hot !) Now go over the paper a few times with the Iron then check the seal, if its too crinkly could be
either too hot (dial it back a bit) or too slow going over the paper, its just a case of trail and error.
Slow Going
Now were getting somewhere keep adding the bags till you get the size you want
Done
When you have completed you should have a functioning Survival Blanket
I saw this somewhere on the "Net" they were being made by a woman in UK for the homeless So Kudos to her!
Notice that all the silver is on one side and so this will reflect the body heat. I think with this method there
are a few things which could be constructed besides the blanket. Big Bags, you might also be able to put dry food/goods in them and vaccum seal it for storage someone will have to test that. You could make some kind of
thermal clothing worn under normal clothes, same goes for socks. etc. etc.
I hope you enjoy this maybe you want to check out the other KISS Principle stuff thanks
