KCTC Computer Build for Mr. Rilley's Class
Our groups computer build instructable for Mr. Rilley's IT Essentials class!
Evaluate Components
Step 1 evaluate all of your computer components and make sure they all go together!
Optional Step - Unplug CMOS Battery
This can reset your bios settings to factory default if needed, but is optional and does not need to be done if the user does not want to.
Put CPU Into the Socket
The CPU should very easily fit into the socket. And push the CPU lock lever down.
Place Heat Sink on CPU
Place the heat sink directly over top of the CPU.
Plug CPU Fan Into the Fan Switch.
Put RAM in Motherboard.
Lift up the right and left "Switches" to fit your RAM in, and put down your RAM until you hear 2 clicks, locking your RAM in.
Plug Power Supply Into the 24 Pin Connector, Plug the 4 Pin Connector In, and Plug the Power Supply Into an Outlet.
Plug the Speaker in If You Have One to Hear Whether or Not You Post.
Short the Circuit to Make Sure Everything Works Before You Put It Into Your Computer and Have to Undo It All!
To short the circuit, touch a screw driver to the positive and negative "PW" pins.
Put I/O Shield on If You Have One, Before Putting in the Motherboard So That It Fits!
Install the Standoffs and Install the Motherboard and Screw It In!
Put Motherboard in the Case, With the Correct Components on the Motherboard Face Into the I/O Shield.
Put Your Graphics Card in the Motherboard Now. and Screw the Graphics Card Into the Case So It Doesn't Move.
Unplug the Power Supply and Put the Power Supply in the Case and Plug It Back in After You Screw It Into the Case.
Put the Hard Drive on Its Dock and Plug It in (SATA and Power) and Screw It in If Needed.
Put Your Side Panels on and Screw It in and VOILA! You're Ready to Turn It On!
Go to BIOS and Mess With Any Settings You Need To!
Upon booting though, there should be a beep and a short pause and another beep, meaning that it will properly boot and if you get anything different, I would suggest googling the beep code you get!
