K-9 Cookies

2.jpg

K-9 Cookies are easy to make at home, baked dogie treats. I make them for my dog, but people can eat them too. In our home we call them Korbin-Cookies, after our pup Korbin.

Supplies

Equipment:

  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl and a fork
  • Some cleared counter-top and a butter knife
  • Baking pans and parchment paper
  • Measuring Cup, Tablespoons, and teaspoon

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Baking Flour
  • 1 can Pumpkin Puree, or Yams, or Sweet Potatoes. Whatever you have.
  • 3 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
  • 2-3 Eggs or 4-6 Egg-whites
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon or other flavors

Gather Your Ingredients

I'm using Whole Wheat Flour, a can of Yams, Organic Peanut Butter, 5 Egg-whites I had leftover, Salt, and instead of cinnamon I'm adding some leftover Bacon Grease for flavor.

Preheat the Oven to 350 Degrees

Put Yams in the Bowl

Drain the extra liquid out of the can and dump it in the mixing bowl. My yams were in chunks, not a puree, so a whipped them with a fork to break them up.

Add the Egg

I mixed the egg whites into the yams.

Add Peanut-butter

Add 3 Tablespoons of creamy peanut-butter into the mix.

Add Seasonings

Add the salt, and if you want some cinnamon to the mix.

Bacon Grease for Flavor

Mix in 3 Cups Flour

Add the 3 Cups Flour one cup at a time. Add some water as needed. This will be a dry dough.

Shape the Cookies

You can do all sorts of things to shape the cookies. Some people have dog bone cookie cutters.

I took 1/4 the dough at a time, and rolled each into a long thin shape. Then I use a butter knife to cut off about 1/2 inch for each cookie. This makes little biscotti like shapes.

Bake

Cover two baking pans with parchment paper, and spread out the cookies. They will not expand much so they can be close together.

Bake for 30 minutes, and let cool.

Eat

Korbin likes his Korbin-Cookies, and I think they taste okay too.

These treats are not made with preservatives. Just like other homemade baked goods, They can keep in a cookie jar at room temperature for 2 days. Refrigerate if keeping them a week. Freeze them if you want to keep them longer.
