Concrete Hand
Let's build a concrete hand for your jewelry!
With few materials and effort you will create a decorative concrete hand that will help you keep your jewelry organized.
Materials & Tools
All materials are easily found at your local store.
You will need:
- Rubber Gloves - Any type of rubber glove, use the smallest size because the weight of the concrete will stretch the glove and if you use a large size will be difficult to put rings.
- Cement and Sand
- Embroidery Hoop - It was what I found more practical to keep the glove in position.
- Any kind of support to let the cement cure - In my case I used an old bucket and chopsticks.
Preparing and Filling the Mold
It is very easy to prepare the mold, just put the glove in the Embroidery Hoop and tighten.
Next we will prepare the concrete with cement, sand and water. It should be a little watery to facilitate the removal of air bubbles.
Fill the glove with the concrete, taking care not to trap air bubbles. Just go shaking and squeezing the glove and the air will come out. Then just place in the holder to cure the concrete, minimum three days.
The Fun Part, Remove the Glove!
OK, we have reached the step where we will see our creation!
Be very careful, this is the step where you should not rush or you can destroy the hand by breaking the fingers...
Using scissors, trim the rubber glove to make removal easier. Do not try to take it whole, it will probably break.
Use sandpaper to level the base and do not forget to put protective feet to avoid scratching the furniture.
