Jellyfish Rainbow Loom Charm

Objective: A fun, simple tutorial on how to create a jellyfish rainbow loom charm with minimal supplies and 12 steps. This project is for ages 8 and up.

Safety Precautions: Do not poke or injure yourself with the sharp loom hook. Do not ingest rubber bands.

Troubleshooting Tips: If having difficulty with hooking bands via loom hook, use fingers for extra support. Follow all steps carefully and refer to pictures for guidance.

Supplies

All the following supplies can be purchased at your local supermarket.

  1. Plastic Loom
  2. Loom Hook
  3. 55 Colorful Mini Rubber Bands
  4. 2 Eye-Colored Mini Rubber Bands

Beginning Jellyfish Head

1a. With the loom pegs pointing down, place two colorful rubber bands from the top center peg to the one straight below.

1b. Starting at the second center peg, place two more colorful bands to the left peg. Do the same to the right peg.

Starting Jellyfish Body

Using the previous pegs, double band each column straight down three times.

3a. Using the rainbow loom hook, wrap a singular rubber band around the base three times

3b. Hooking two more rubber bands onto the tip, slide the singular rubber band from the base onto the double bands.

3c. Using the hook, place the ends of the double bands onto the lowest left two pegs.

3d. Repeat steps a through b and place the ends of the double bands onto the lowest right two pegs.

4a. Place singular bands down the loom starting from the bottom of the head until the last peg of the loom. Repeat for all three columns.

4b. Wrap a single band around each bottom column peg three times.

5a. On the fifth peg from the top of the left column, place a singular eye-color band of your choice and wrap it around four times.

5b. Repeat step a with the right column.

6a. Create a triangle using a singular band with the fourth pegs of the left and right columns and the third peg of the middle column. Repeat this process for the next set of lower pegs.

6b. Stretch a singular band across the sixth pegs of the left and right columns. Go around the top of the fifth middle peg instead of creating a triangle.

Hooking Jellyfish Eyes

7a. Taking your rainbow loom hook, hook the left eye-colored band over the peg, sliding it onto the triangle.

7b. Repeat step a for the eye-colored band on the right.

Hooking Jellyfish Legs

8a. Starting from the bottom pegs of the loom, hook the bottom bands from under the wrapped bands to the peg above.

8b. Continue hooking each band to the peg above, stopping once you reach the sixth pegs from the top of the loom for the left and right columns, and the fifth peg for the middle column.

9a. On the left and right sixth pegs, hook only the bottom two bands to the next peg by going underneath all other bands.

9b. Continue hooking the bottom two bands on each peg by going underneath the triangles until you reach the third peg of the left and right columns and the second peg of the middle column.

Final Hooking

10a. Hook the double bands of the first and third columns onto the second center peg.

10b. Hook the bottom two bands from the second center peg onto the first center peg.

Securing a Knot

Lift the bottom two bands from the top center peg. Pull the top bands to tighten knot.

12a. Carefully pull the bands off the loom pegs, starting from the top and working your way down.

12b. Ta-da! You've successfully made a jellyfish.
