Jack O' Lantern Brain!

This is a silly take on the classic jack o' lantern! It would be a fun addition to a Halloween display.

Supplies

  • Small white pumpkin
  • Medium pumpkin
  • Pumpkin carving tools
  • Wood carving tool

Finding the Right Pumpkins

The white pumpkin should be about half the size of the orange pumpkin.

Most grocery stores have many different sizes and colors of pumpkins.

Carving the Hole for the Brain

Cut the top off the orange pumpkin and clean out the inside.

Test fit the white pumpkin.

Cut away the orange pumpkin a small amount at a time until the white pumpkin fits tightly.

Carving the Brain

Cut an opening on the bottom of the white pumpkin.

Clean out the inside of the white pumpkin.

Draw a brain pattern using an online image as your inspiration.

Use a v cut woodworking tool to carve away the skin of the white pumpkin on the pattern.

Carve a surprised or scared in the orange pumpkin.

The white pumpkin should be held up by fitting tightly in the orange pumpkin.

Finding the Right Spot

Add a battery operated jack o' lantern candle and enjoy the spooky glowing brain!
