JUMBO Lollipop Decoration
These JUMBO lollipop decorations are perfect for the holiday season and easy to make. It is also cheap to purchase the supplies.
Supplies
- Paper plates
- Red paint
- Paintbrush
- Tape
- Cellophane warping paper
- Large stick or branch
- Sandpaper (optional)
- String (optional)
Choosing the Shape
There are many shapes and sizes of paper plates but all of them work, and after being painted will look like a peppermint lollipop.
Sketch
First I think that it is best to sketch out the area that you will paint with pencil. This step is optional but it makes the painting process neater.
Painting
Now it is time to paint. If you want to make the lollipop look more like a peppermint I recommend painting the stripes curved.
Lollipop Stick
For the lollipop stick I chose a branch about 1 1/2 feet long. I used a knife to remove the bark. If you do this be very careful. Then use sandpaper to sand the stick. I used fine sandpaper to sand the stick. You can see in the photo above the difference between the sanded and non sanded sides. The sanding is optional but it makes the stick more smooth.
Tape
Then tape the stick to these of the plate that is not painted.
Cellophane Paper
Then, fold the cellophane paper over the lollipop.
Cellophane Paper
Next bunch the cellophane paper around the stick.
String/tape
Then, wrap your string/tape around the bunched up cellophane paper. Cut off the excessive string/tape.
Waterproofing (optional)
Since I will be displaying these outside, I will waterproof them. To waterproof them wrap tape around the wooden stick to prevent rotting. This step is optional.
Display
Then you can display these as decorations. The more you make the more it looks like a candy land! :)
Here you can see these compared to a regular sized candy cane. These are so big!
