Interactive E-Card Using Makey Makey and Scratch!

Make an interactive E-card that you can change over and over and send to family and friends :) Follow these steps to get started Makers!

• Things you will need include:
• A Box about the size shown in the picture, I used a box from a picture frame I found around the house, an envelope box should work fine as well.
• Paper or Card stock to make the actual card that is going to be glued onto the box.
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Glue
• Markers/Crayons, etc.
• A Scratch account
• A MakeyMakey
• And lastly, some creativity!

Before you make your card, glue it to the box and draw your appropriate designs,etc. you must poke holes for the Makey Makey cords to be fed through, I used scissors and poked 3 holes through the side of the box. Also, the box should have an opening on one side so you can access inside.Lastly, I cut a hole in the back just big enough to hold the Makey Makey.

So, in order for the card to be "interactive", you must connect the Makey Makey circuit board to a computer, hook up the appropriate clamps to the appropriate actions and then program those actions to the mark (made with pencil), to do this you must make a scratch account to program which action goes with which design. For example,(If you connect one clamp to space and then assign the card to say "Hello" when space is pressed, you must connect that clamp to the action in which you want to happen when it is pressed. Think of Makey Makey as a controller in which you can hook up to anything.
