Insulin Pump Toy for Special Kids

We see so many little heroes fighting against medical conditions. Wearing medical equipment is part of treatment or regular life, and they feel different and afraid in such situations . The toys are designed to fit any soft toy they use and make no difference and feel comfortable. I am doing B.E Mechanical engineering at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering,India

Supplies

  1. Fusion 360 (CAD)
  2. 3D printer
  3. 20 cm length of pla filament.
  4. cura

I took some reference images from the internet and started sketching the product. I had 3 points under consideration while designing.

  1. easy to 3d print
  2. easy to install on the toy.
  3. No breakages

I started by setting a 60x40 rectangle and adding buttons to it. I initially planned to add a small speaker which says " you are beautiful" when the button is pressed. Then, I couldn't find adaptable electronics near me and just carried on with the design.

Design in Fusion

design of toy insulin pump in fusion360

Here is the design I did in Fusion 360. The holes are 5mm made with sewing thread for the soft toy, and the white wire is the 1.75 mm PLA filament.

Export

export to stl

exported as a single stl file with a high poly count.

Slicing

I printed it using .12 layer height so that 1.75 will have a good tolerance for 1.75mm wire. used 20–15% infill.

the printing time estimation is around 3 hours approx.
