Instructions to Change Oil


2014 Ram oil change.
Supplies





You will need vehicle ramps, oil wrench's, and the correct oil and oil filter. Some tools, in this case a 13 millimeter for the drain plug.
Getting the Vehicle in the Air



First you are going to line up the ramps with the front tires of the vehicle. Now you can drive up the ramps. Make sure you have a spotter or look out the window, because you don't want to drive up and over the ramps. Doing so will cause damage to the vehicle.
Safely Secure Vehicle


Check to see if your in park, if your not in park put it in park. Now push in the emergency break to lock the rear wheels. Put a wheel chalk behind your rear wheels to prevent it rolling back.
Drain Oil






Open the hood and crawl underneath the vehicle with your tool and a drain pan. Find the engine oil drain plug. Going counter clockwise with you tool on the plug, turn the plug. This may be hard to turn, but it will get lose. Slide the oil drain pan underneath the oil plug before it is completely removed. Take the drain plug out and the oil will start draining. with most of the oil out thread the plug back in and tighten the plug with the tool. Make the plug snug but don't over tighten it.
Replace Oil Filter




Fins the oil filter. Reach up and spin it off by hand, if you can't spin it off then grab the oil filter wrench. In this case the threads are counter clockwise to loosen the filter. Look at the old oil filter and see if the rubber gasket is still on there. If not look at the oil filter housing and see if it's there and take it off. Finally spin on the new filter and make it hand tight.
Filling Oil to the Correct Level




Fill the vehicle with the recommended oil and oil amount. Put the oil fill cap back on and check the dip stick. Normally the dip stick is going to be a little above full until it is ran. Run vehicle, then check the oil and it should be within the two hash marks.
