Supplies
For this instructable you will need:
A led touch screen digital watch (with a round face)
A block of wood (about 2.5in x 1.5in x 4in)
A small philips head screwdiver
White Spray Paint
A drill
A forstner drill bit (about 1.25 diameter or same as the watch face's diameter)
Scissors
8 1/2 in. by 11in. White Sticker Paper
A printer - not shown in photo
Taking Apart the Watch
Start by taking apart your watch. (Your watch should be very similar to the one in the photo; it is critical to this project that you have an identical watch.) There will most likely be 4 screws on the back. Use a small philips head screwdriver to remove the back of the watch. You should be able to remove the actual clock from the inside of the watch. You can discard the screws, metal backing, or rubber watch casing; you will not need them. All that you need is the round digital clock piece along with its battery.
Drilling & Painting
Next, you will need to drill a hole with the same diameter as your clock piece into your block of wood. To do this you will need to measure the diameter of your clock piece and then get a forstner drill bit with the same diameter. Once you have found the correct drill bit, you will need to drill a hole a little below the center of the block. The depth of the hole should be equivalent to the height of the round clock piece.
After you have drilled the hole, you will need to spray the entire block with white spray paint. Be sure you coat every area thoroughly. Be sure it has completely dried before continuing.
Finishing
Now that the paint has dried, you will need to put the clock into the hole you made. Be sure to put it in right-side up. The numbers should not be at an angle and the button that activates the watch should be on the bottom. Also you will have to make it flush with the rest of the block so that the surface of the clock is neither above or below the surface of the wood.
Time to print the sticker! Feed the 8.5in by 11in. sticker page into your printer so that it is the next paper the printer will print on. Also, make sure it positioned to print on the sticker side. Next, open up the PDF document in this step. Once opened, you will need to print it onto the sticker paper.
Cut out the area of the page you want to cover the clock. It should include the instructables robot and logo and some extra white background. Peel the backing off the sticker and place the sticker directly on the clock, entirely covering the clock's face. Make sure you have it positioned so that it lights up right under the "belly" of the robot.
Ta-da! Now you have an awesome instructables robot clock! Whenever you want to know the time just push his belly (where the button is) and watch him light up and display the time.
