Instructables Robot 3D Model

I made a 3D printable model of the "Instructables Robot."

Supplies

Use TinkerCad, and get the following materials out. (4 tubes, 1 torus, 3 cylinders, 39 boxes, 3 half spheres, 5 spheres, and three custom shapes we will make later.)

Making Custom Shapes.

Under the basic shapes section, get the scribble option and drag it into the baseplate. After this, it should let you draw custom shapes. You need to draw these shapes in three seperate scribbles. We will use these for the face and arms.

Making the Legs

Get two tubes and color them grey. These will be the wheels. Then, grab a box with these settings. Next, we will add boxes around the legs. You can make them by taking two boxes and turning one into a hole, and turning each value down by one. Here is an example of how. Repeat this step three times, and add them around the leg. It should look like the picture above. Once you get the tube and upper leg done, put the leg directly above, but touching the wheels.

Making the Body

The body is pretty easy to make. First, grab a half-sphere and make the dimensions 72 x 91 x 75. Then, grab a box and turn it into a hole. Place this a little below the top of the half sphere and group it. It should look like this.

Adding Details to the Chest

To do this, grab 5 circles, 3 cylinders, 1 torus, and 12 boxes. Make the torus loop around the base of the body. Now, add bolts by using 5 circles around the front of the body under the torus. It should look similar to this. Now, add one box in the center of the chest. Add 11 more boxes to make a curved line like this. After this, add 3 small cylinders above those boxes.

Creating the Arms.

Going back to step one, we will use the first drawing as the arms. Then, add 4 small boxes that are shaped like rectangles as the fingers. Add them to the body where the top of the arm lines up with the top of each cylinder. Once it is on the body, duplicate it and rotate 180 degrees. Then, add it to the other side of the body. It will look like this.

Creating the Head/finishing the Model

To make the head, grab 3 boxes, two tubes, two half spheres, and these other two scribbles. Grab the box and add one half sphere and a box protruding off of it on each side. Then, grab the straight black scribble. Put this close to the top of the box. Then, grab both tubes and position them under the brow with one of them being bigger than the other. Finally, put the mouth under both eyes. There you have it! You should have your own Instructables bot!

3D Printing (optional)

To get the 3D model, go to the export button and select .STL or .OBJ. This will extract the model, letting you print it.
