Instant Pot Brown Basmati Rice
Rice, especially brown rice (apparently because of the outer layers that white doesn't have), has arsenic. It gets it from the soil. Yes, it's not a good thing. I try to limit my rice consumption but still eat it. Brown basmati from California, India, or Pakistan is the best choice.
Boil and Rinse Rice First
I boil the rice first for two minutes, rinse and strain it. Boil a pot of water, measure a cup of brown basmati rice and add to water. Boil for two minutes. Rinse under running water for a few minutes.
Cook in Instant Pot
Add boiled and rinsed rice and 1 1/4 cup of water to instant pot. Seal lid. Set to manual for 14 minutes.
Do 10 Minute Slow Release
Allow Instant Pot to sit for 10 minutes (after it's done its 14 minutes of cooking). At the 10 minute mark, release the lid (the pressure should have released by now, but if not, release the pressure first). Fluff the rice. It will make about 3 1/2 cups of rice.
