Installing Motor Wheel on a Bicycle
Hello, friends!
I installed a set of motor wheels on my bike and want to show you how it's done.
Supplies
Firstly choose the right kit for your bike.
The most popular options are listed below:
To ensure that the wheel is right for your bike, check the following parameters before ordering:
1. The diameter and width of wheel,
2. Front or rear wheel,
3. Do you have a disc brake or rim brake,
4. If the wheel is rear, then choose a cassette or threaded hub.
My choice is shown in the picture.
Then you need to decide on the voltage of the motor wheel (36V or 48V) and find the appropriate battery. I chose a 19.2 Ah battery with a voltage of 36V. The most popular options offered by this seller are:
Now everything is ready for installation.
Installing a Tire
Remove the tire from the old wheel and put it on the new one.
Installing Sprockets
You will need some tools to remove the sprockets from your wheel and install them on the new wheel.
These tools can also be purchased on AliExpress:
Installing the Wheel on a Bicycle
Install the supplied washers and nuts onto the wheel axle.
Install the wheel onto the bike. One washer on the inside and two washers on the outside.
Tighten the nut with a wrench.
Installing the Brake and Gas Handle
You should definitely replace your brake levers with the ones that come with the kit.
The brake levers have sensors that turn off the motor wheel when you press the brake.
The hardest part is removing your old grips from the handlebars. Everything else is very simple.
Connecting the Wires
My bike doesn't have a bottle mount. So I had to invent my own mount from plywood and water clamps. If your bike has a bottle mount, it will be much easier for you.
Route the wires from the battery, wheel motor, brake and gas levers into the saddle bag. The bag is also included in the kit.
Install the controller and connect all the wires.
The wires must be connected according to the instructions. However, it is difficult to make a mistake. First, connect the wires of the same color. The other wires have different connectors, so it is impossible to connect them incorrectly.
The blue wire switches the wheel speed: 20 km/h or 40 km/h.
A charger for the battery is also included in the kit.
Everything is ready for a test ride!
All Done
The bike is ready for a fun ride!
My 19.2 Ah battery shows a range of almost 70 km. The maximum speed is 40 km/h. Riding at such a speed is already scary. In addition, the bike starts very quickly.
I recommend watching the video.
Thank you for your attention, see you soon!
