Installing Custom Images and Ringtones on the Original Nokia 3310
Have you ever wanted to customize your original Nokia 3310 beyond the physical appearance? Maybe you waned some custom wallpaper or ringtone. If yes then this instructable is for you!
Supplies
A PC with windows 7 or lower and real serial port
Nokia 3310 mobile
Logo manager software (get it on archive.org)
soldering iron
MAX232CPE IC
2x 1N5819 diodes
3x 1uf electrolitic capacitors
1x 47 ohm resistor
4,7V 400mW zener diode
DB9 female connector
some wires
Wire It Up
First of all you will need tosolder all the component acording to the atached schematic. After you did that you can move to step 2.
Phone Connection
Pull out the battery from the phone and focus your atention to the funky looking hole to the left. Inside it there are four gold contacts. We will need only two of them. Te ground and MBUS. Solder the coresponding wires from the circuit you made at step one to the gold pads. I soldered a flex cable from a old DVD drive in order to have a neat removable connection. Now you can proceed to step 3.
The Software
Go to this link and download Logo Manager for nokia phones: https://archive.org/details/logo-manager
Now turn on your phone and connect it to the serial port of your computer, and start the instalation of the program. If you didn't connect the phone before starting the installer your phone will not be detected. Don't forget to register it using the REG file included. The guy that uploaded the software to archive.org was so kind that it included in the package a lot of operator logos including custom and oficial.
The Finished Product
Let me know if you did that.
