After looking around for a fun project to do for my electronics class I soon found the idea of making an infinity mirror so I decided to make one.

Materials needed:

  1. A lot of cardboard.
  2. Black spray paint.
  3. Led strip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B2F3KDQ/ref=...
  4. Mirror film: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CWGIHBE/ref=o...
  5. 12 Inch x12 Inch Square Mirror: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002PNUZAA/ref=o...
  6. Boxing tape.
  7. Black tape.
  8. Velcro
  9. 14.5 inches by 14.5 inches sheet of plexiglas.

Make the Bases

Make 2 bases. Make one base 14.5 inches by 14.5 inches. Make the second base 12 and 1/4 inches by 12 and 1/4 inches.

Paint the Base

Paint both the interior and exterior base black.

Attach the Bases and Mirror

Use tape to attach the bases sides. I used velcro to attach the bases and the mirror but you can also use glue. (I do not have a picture of the smaller base attached to the larger base, but you should put the smaller base centered to the larger one inside.) The terrible ms paint drawing is supposed to represent the boxes.

Attach LEDs to Interior Box

Attach the LEDs to the sides of the inside box with velcro. Wire the leds out of the interior box and have the end hang out of the exterior box. (Again the terrible ms paint drawing is supposed to represent the boxes and where to wire the LEDs.)

Cover the Gap Between the Interior Box and the Exterior Box

You are going to need to cover the gap between the interior box and the exterior box so that the LEDs don't shine through there. (Cover in between where the black boxes are in the ms paint picture.)

Attach the Plexiglas and Mirror Film

Cut out a piece of mirror film to go on top of the plexiglas and wet the surface of the plexiglas so that it stays on the plexiglas. Tape down the sides of the mirrior film on the sides.

Clean Up Sides

Clean up the sides with the black tape and you are almost done.

Attach the LEDs Control Box/the DC Converter to the Side.
