Inexpensive and Minimalist Bicycle Wall Mount

This bike wall mount is made with cheap materials and can be made and installed using only a drilling machine and two drills.
It fits in every bicycle and needs only one empty wall anywhere in your house (including your living room as a piece of art!).

I made my first wall mount about 4 years ago. Now, as I moved to another house and have one more bike to keep, I took the opportunity to detail it step by step.

You will need:

• 2 pieces of stone* (or any other material to use as support for the tires - wood, aluminium, plastic, ...);
• 4 "L" screws;
• 1 screw hook;
• 5 wall plugs;
• 1 rope or shoelace.

* It is important for the pieces to have a minimum of 4 centimeters of thickness and at least one flat surface (which will be placed against the wall). One extra stone if you are afraid of cracking one.

Choose one drill slightly larger than the L.
If you are using a hard stone you should use water as coolant, to prevent damaging your drill.
You don't need to worry about spacing or fine alignment. Only make sure to keep distance from borders to prevent your pieces from cracking.
Drill the piece deep enough to insert the L hook completely.
Wash them before installing to remove drill dust and other dirts.

Choose a height to be the tire bottom point. I used 1,40 meters.
Positioning the top center of your stone in the mark, draw a point aligned with each hole in the stone.

Measure the spacing between axis from your bike.
Mark the same distance in the wall.
Use the horizontal distance mark to draw the final reference with the same height as the first stone.

Do the same in the bottom to mark in the wall the points to place the L hooks.

You only need to adjust the depht of each L screw to fit firmly.

If the stone is tilting, one more turn.
If it doesn't fit, back one turn.

Measure the height of the top tube of your bike.

Add this to the tire bottom mark (1,40 + 0,77 = 2,17 meters in my case)
Install the hook and prepare the rope with a float knot on the hook and a double knot on the other point.

Lift your bike with the pedal in position (the wall side needs to be higher).
Secure the top tube with the rope.
