Industrial Style Clothing Stand

I designed and built this clothing stand last year because there is no clothes closet in my apartment, and I wanted something that would be collapsible and transportable for if and when I move. It's a no-brainer although the parts were more expensive than I had at first anticipated. My partner in DIY crime Herr B gave me a hand building it.

Basically you need a whole bunch of pipes and joints, as outlined on the sketch above. Measurements will depend on what size clothing stand you want. Make sure that the diameter of the pipes and joints are consistent, since plumbing pipes (at least in Berlin) come in 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" etc.

You'll also need 2 pieces of wood (I used particleboard, wood, MDF, and flat surface will do.

You'll need a jig saw to cut out an area of the top wooden surface to accomodate the pipes,

The drawers (sadly) are not self-made. But this means you can put whatever you want in the lower shelf of the clothing stand!

Get pipes and joints, assemble, cut out holes for pipes into wood with jigsaw, place wooden boards on respective surfaces, reinforce if you like and that's it folks. Enjoy!
