Buying an illuminated Switch could be quiet expensive or you want something Special or you are like me and want to made it with parts you allready own.

Hey we all have LED's (blue, red, White ...... or RGB ....)

OK, when they are 5mm round then you are with me and go ahed in my first instructable.

Parts You Need

parts (902x1024).jpg

1. switch itself, I used this cheap chinese switches I got 50 for 2,96€ Price change often including sending.

banggood.com

2. Resistor I choose in my example a 470 Ohm one.

3. LED for the example I used a clear blue LED 5mm

4. shrinktube I think this is the english Name, you heat it up and it get smaller

5. wires or cable

Messure, Think and Drill

ok my switch is 8mm hight so the hole for the LED should be at 4mm distance from the ground. Because the LED should be in the middle of the switch. So if you have a switch that is 12mm high then you should drill the hole at 6mm allways the half.

The whole should be a little bigger then the LED so the LED will slide smothly. You can drill it bigger or use sandpaper.

Solder All Together

Prepare the wires if you want you can apply the resitor direct in the wire to the LED. I protect it with some shrinktube.

Cut the wire of the LED so it fit on the switch, make sure you can still press the switch, I secured it with a little bit of superglue.

Solder the wires to the switch and the LED.

!! Yipieee almost done !!

Everything Needs to Come Together. (could Be a Songtext)

Place the LED in the hole you drill before, adjust the distance of your switch so you can still press it, now it is time for more superglue or some "hotsnot"....

I like it when it is modular so I atached at least a female Pinheader.

FINISH ENDE ...

I'm german so if you have problems reading my english don't worry you are OK it is just my fault not your eyes.

some of my pics showing a finished project I found here, link below...
