The LED illuminated rug is a simple DIY project. It needs just the basic skills of crocheting.

The most amazing part is that it uses just 1 stitch throughout. A big hook and a yarn of good thickness can make your work lot more easier and faster.

A strand of LED is encased in a Crochet cover.

I was inspired by an image I came across in the internet. I just used my crocheting skills to create this beauty. You can use knitting skills too.

Have attached a video of my Illuminated Rug.

Materials

Materials:

LED cable wire

12 ply yarn cream

Crochet hook - 8 mm

Scissors

Terminology:

Sl St - Slip Stitch

SC - Single Crochet - Insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull it through the stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through the two loops on the hook.

Begin to Work

Start from the inner end.

Start with a slip knot. The first stitch to your LED wire is tricky. But you will get the hang of it soon.

SC around the LED wire. Thats the basic concept here.

Single Crochet Around

As you Single crochet to some distance pull the stitches together. It is good that no gaps are seen between the stitches.

See how simple is that.

When Your Yarn Ends?

Now when your yarn ends what to do?

Never mind. You need not use the same colour through out. You can change the color of the yarn.

When doing SC, the loop you take for the final pull it through should be the new color yarn or the next yarn you are going to use.

Thats It Friends

So now you are ready with your crocheted rug. Arrange it in round going spirally from inside.

Once thing you can do here is, you can bring up the SC stitch so it is visible and will give a good patterning.

Plug it. Annnnd...

"Let there be light :)"...

I love the effect of light it gives in the dark.

Hope you loved it. Have attached a video file of the Illuminated rug.
