If You Are a TIG Welder You NEED IT! Say Hello to "Third Hand"
Hello my friends! If you are a TIG welder you must have this tool! As TIG welders we are sometimes required to weld very small parts, it will not always be simple... but pay attention! With the tool you see me building in the video, you will not believe how easy it becomes. Say hello to the "Third Hand"
Preparing the Base
First we take a round iron rod with a diameter of 24 mm and a length of 12 cm, mark the center and drill a hole with a diameter of 4 mm and then make a thread.
Freeing Space for the Arm
We will now mark a groove in the middle of the iron rod and then cut it with a disc grinder with great care. The groove is designed so that later we can insert another iron rod into it.
Preparation of the Arm Axis
Now drill a 3 mm diameter passing hole in the groove we made before that...
Preparation of the Arm
Now we will prepare the arm, take a thinner iron rod with a diameter of 8 mm and a length of 40 cm and sharpen its edge.
Bending the Arm
Now we will bend the sharp end of the arm we created 90 degrees, and drill two holes on the other side of the arm.
Connecting the Arm to the Base
Now we will attach the arm to the base we prepared earlier with a screw.
Now attach a magnet to the base of the arm at the bottom, the magnet is designed to help the base connect well to the welding table. We will also attach a spring from the base to the arm to allow the arm to apply pressure to the part we want to grab with in the future.
Now we can start working, we will connect our arm to the welding table with the help of the magnet, we will catch the part we want to weld and we can be sure that it will not move during the welding.
Demonstration
This tool has definitely made my life easier when it comes to welding small parts using TIG welding, I can weld small parts without worrying that they will move during welding. I recommend you watch the full construction video on my YouTube channel, where of course you can see a full demo of the tool and watch the entire construction process.
Full Construction Video + Demonstration
In the next video you can see and follow all the stages of construction. At the end of the video you will see a demo of the tool during operation.
