How touching your face can spread viruses — and why you’re so bad at avoiding it???
With the outbreak of Covid-19, health care professionals are urging people to regularly refrain from touching their face. Is that too much to ask? There’s no question it’s easier said than done.
According to a 2015 study in the American Journal of Infection Control, people touch their faces more than 20 times an hour on average. About 44 percent of the time, it involves contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. “Some pathogens can last for about nine days on surfaces, so we are constantly coming in contact with potential pathogens that can cause an infection,” said Jennifer Hanrahan, chief of the division of infectious diseases at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
All of which explains why it makes sense for health officials to recommend that people try to avoid touching their faces. But as anyone who has consciously tried to do so knows, it’s hard. Touching your face is an act that most people perform without thinking, explained Wendy Wood, provost professor of psychology and business at the University of Southern California. “Whether it is something intrinsic to our species or a learned behavior, we continue to repeat it even if we intend to or not,” she said. According to Wood, face touching is a behavior that is triggered for a number of reasons. While some people do it to express their emotions, others touch their face in a discussion to make a point. Over time, they form a habit that continues to get repeated unless it is consciously broken. Experts say one way to break the cycle is to simply make it more difficult to touch your face.
so i have made a device which does not allows to touch your face!!!
well this is just a trainer cap that will train u by not touching your hands to your face!
ITS JUST A PROTOTYPE !!! I AM BUILDING A MUCH MORE REFINED VERSION OF THIS!
PARTS AND MATERIALS REQUIRED!!!
- *ARDUINO UNO (It is highly recommended to use arduino nano i doesnt had the nano so i have used uno)
- *ULTRASONIC SENSOR
- *A BUZZER
- *A LED
U CAN ALSO USE THE BREADBOARD FOR TESTING !!!
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM FOR THE CONNECTIONS!!!
I have made the circuit diagram just see the circuit diagram and make the connections.
CONNECTIONS!!!
Now connect the ultrasonic sensor , buzzer and led to the arduino with the help of the circuit diagram.
JUST FOLLOW THE CIRCUIT DIAGRAM FOE THE CONNECTIONS!!!
NOW ITS TIME TO UPLOAD THE CODE!!!!
//Dynamic Innovator const int trigPin = 9; const int echoPin = 10; const int buzzer = 11; const int ledPin = 13; // defines variables long duration; int distance; int safetyDistance; void setup() { pinMode(trigPin, OUTPUT); // Sets the trigPin as an Output pinMode(echoPin, INPUT); // Sets the echoPin as an Input pinMode(buzzer, OUTPUT); pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT); Serial.begin(9600); // Starts the serial communication } void loop() { // Clears the trigPin digitalWrite(trigPin, LOW); delayMicroseconds(2); // Sets the trigPin on HIGH state for 10 micro seconds digitalWrite(trigPin, HIGH); delayMicroseconds(10); digitalWrite(trigPin, LOW); // Reads the echoPin, returns the sound wave travel time in microseconds duration = pulseIn(echoPin, HIGH); // Calculating the distance distance= duration*0.034/2; safetyDistance = distance; if (safetyDistance <= 22 ){ // Enter the Distance digitalWrite(buzzer, HIGH); digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH); } else{ digitalWrite(buzzer, LOW); digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW); } // Prints the distance on the Serial Monitor Serial.print("Distance: "); Serial.println(distance); }
Downloads
TESTING THE CONNECTIONS AND THE CODE!!!
After uploading the code now its time for the testing of the sensor
bring your hand in front of the sensor the buzzer and the led activates!!!
FIXING THE SENSOR,LED,BUZZER TO THE CAP!!!
- FIX the arduino to the back strap of the cap with the help of some rubber bands.
- and fix the ultrasonic sensor infront of the cap.
- and fix the buzzer back side of the cap.
WORKING!!!
- U can see the first photo whenever i bring my hand in front of my face the buzzer and led activates.
- u can see in my second photo i didn't brings my hands to my face it doesn't activates
THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
